YOU Are The Tamagotchi

When I was a kid, Tamagotchis were the thing. Little pocket-sized digital pets that you had to feed, clean, play with, and keep alive. If you looked after them, they thrived. If you neglected them... well, you’d return to a screen with a gravestone on it.

Simple really. Look after your Tamagotchi, and it looked after you.

Fast forward to today, I’m sat in Spain with my two boys. Just me and them. No distractions. No chaos. Just full attention, full presence. And honestly? It hit me really hard... they’re my Tamagotchis. My little ginger nijas to nurture, teach, feed, water, entertain and love. It’s a privilege to look after them properly.

But here’s the thing most people miss: you are also a Tamagotchi.

Your body.

Your mind.

Your energy.

Your health.

Your happiness.

Every single day, you’ve got needs.

• Feed me good food.

• Move me.

• Let me rest.

• Stimulate me.

• Look after me.

Ignore those needs for long enough? You crash. You feel flat, tired, snappy, unmotivated, unhealthy. Just like leaving your Tamagotchi in your school bag all weekend and wondering why it's not happy Monday morning.

Modern life makes it so easy to look after everyone else (work, family, kids, friends) and completely neglect the one person everything depends on: you.

The uncomfortable truth is:

No one else is coming to feed your Tamagotchi.

Your health, your training, your recovery, your nutrition, it’s all on you. And that’s a beautiful thing. Because it means you get to set the standard for how well you look after yourself.

When you prioritise your own well-being, you show up better for everyone else. More patient. More present. More energised. More YOU.

This trip with my boys reminded me how good it feels to nurture something properly. But don’t forget, the first person who deserves that same care... is you.

Look after your Tamagotchi.

Eat well.

Train hard.

Recover properly.

Protect your energy.

Have fun.

Live well.

Because a thriving, happy Tamagotchi isn’t lucky.

It’s looked after.
